Rampage open Rodeo Trip with loss in Austin suburbs

CEDAR PARK – The San Antonio Rampage opened their Rodeo Road Trip with a 5-1 loss to the Texas Stars (25-17-4-2) at the H-E-B Center last Saturday evening.

Texas opened the scoring at the 11:15 mark when Roope Hintz collected a rebound and beat San Antonio’s defense to put the home team up a goal.

The Rampage would battle back to even the score at 1-1 in the second period when Oskar Sundqvist shot the puck off the post and past Stars goaltender Philippe Desrosiers.


The Stars took the lead right back with three straight goals in the final period of play. Dennis Gurianov skated his way through the San Antonio defense and beat Ville Husso to put the home team up for good. Gurianov scored twice and Austin Fyten added another goal to finalize the score at 5-1.

Up next:

The Rampage are now 24-18-2-0 and will return to the ice to face the Rockford IceHogs at 7 p.m. to continue their Road Trip.
