The San Antonio Rampage fell 3-2 in overtime to the Lake Erie Monsters on Saturday night.

On Thursday, the third period was a thorn in the side of the San Antonio Rampage. Two days later it would be a frame where they would rally from a two-goal deficit to force overtime.

The Rampage rallied to force overtime, but fell 3-2 to the Lake Erie Monsters (18-16-3-3, 43 points) in front of 14,127 fans inside Quicken Loans Arena on Saturday night.

Lake Erie lit the lamp first when Dennis Everberg deflected a Markus Lauridsen shot past San Antonio goaltender Dan Ellis 12:00 into the opening period to give the Monsters a 1-0 lead going into the second period. Both teams had 11 shots on goal in the middle frame, but neither could find the back of the net.

The Monsters went up by two goals just 37 seconds into the third period as Stefan Elliott shot beat Ellis high. Vincent Trocheck put the Rampage on the scoreboard with a shot from the left circle, beating Lake Erie netminder Reto Berra at 2:23 of the final frame.

Garrett Wilson tallied the game-tying goal for the Silver and Black as he tipped in an Alex Petrovic shot from the point past Berra at 16:38 to force overtime with the game all even 2-2.

In the extra period, John McFarland turned the puck over at the blue line and Andrew Agozzino buried a shot past Ellis to seal the 3-2 win for Lake Erie.

San Antonio outshot the Monsters 39-25 for the game. Ellis stopped 22 of 25 shots he faced, while Berra made 37 saves on 39 San Antonio shots.

Lake Erie finished 0-for-2 on the power play, while San Antonio converted on their lone man advantage of the night.

The Rampage will now go into the All-Star break with a 24-14-4-0 record. They currently sit fifth in the Western Conference with 50 points. They will return to the ice on Thursday when they take on their in-state rival Texas Stars at 7:30 p.m. inside the Cedar Park Center.
