HIGHLIGHTS:
The San Antonio Rampage know they have not had the easiest road in the course of the season. In California, their luck would not turn as they fell short as they continued their Rodeo Trip.
The Rampage fought hard, but fell 3-2 to the Condors in front of 3,465 fans inside Rabobank Arena on Tuesday night.
San Antonio opened the scoring first when Mikko Rantanen banged home his own rebound just over six minutes into the game to put the Rampage up by a goal. Bakersfield answered back while on the power-play when Brad Hunt’s one-timer found its way past Reto Berra at 14:54 to make it one goal apiece. Luck would not go San Antonio’s way when the Condors took a one goal lead into the locker room off Andrew Miller’s goal to make it 2-1 after 20 minutes.
The Rampage scored the lone goal of the middle frame off an early goal from Dan Maggio, whose backhand shot found its way into the net to make it a 2-2 game after 40 minutes of action.
Bakersfield would take the lead for good in the eighth minute of the third period. Matthew Ford found the loose puck in front of the San Antonio net and put it past Berra to seal the 3-2 win for the Condors.
Condors goaltender Laurent Brossoit stopped 17 of 19 shots he faced for the win, while Berra made 35 of 38 stops in the loss. San Antonio was held scoreless on their lone power-play chance and were outshot 38-19 for the game. Bakersfield was 1-for-5 with the man advantage.
The Rampage are now 23-24-8-0 (54 points, 0.491%) on the season and will return to the ice on Friday night when they take on the San Diego Gulls at 9:05 p.m. to continue their Rodeo Trip.
