The San Antonio Rampage have officially played their final game as the American Hockey League announced the cancellation of the remainder of the 2019-20 season due to the coronavirus pandemic on Monday morning.
The decision was announced in a press release by the league. It was announced back in February that Spurs Sports and Entertainment had sold their AHL license to the Vegas Golden Knights and would relocate the team to Las Vegas for the 2020-21 season.
“We are grateful to every fan, partner, player, coach, and staff member who contributed to the success of the Rampage in San Antonio,” said Frank Miceli, Spurs Sports & Entertainment Senior Vice President of Sales and Business Operations. “Over 18 seasons we witnessed some great hockey and, together, created a lot of wonderful memories. It breaks my heart that we can’t say thank you and goodbye to our fans in person at the AT&T Center.”
The Rampage end the 2019-20 season with a 24-25-7-5 record and a 595-638 over the past 18 years. The Rampage had four playoff appearances, a division title, and one playoff series win.
