The Rampage earned their fourth straight win by defeating the Texas Stars 3-2 in overtime in front of 3,919 fans at the AT&T Center on Sunday afternoon.
Texas got on the board before fans could settle into their seats for the afternoon. Matej Stransky took the puck off a San Antonio turnover and buried it past Spencer Martin to put the visitors up by a goal just 21 seconds into the game. The Rampage answered back nearly five minutes later with Garrett Thompson’s fifth goal of the season, tying the score at 1-1 after the opening 20 minutes.
San Antonio took their first lead of the game two minutes into the middle frame with Nate Guenin’s shot from the point past Jack Campbell. Texas answered back with Stransky’s second goal of the afternoon to make it 2-2 going into the final period.
Despite outshooting Texas 10-7 in the final period, the Rampage were unable to score in the final period. Martin made several key saves in the third to force overtime.
In the extra period, Rantanen got loose and beat Campbell to seal the 3-2 Rampage win. The game-winning tally was the fourth of the season for the 19-year-old rookie.
The Rampage are now 28-33-8-0 on the season and will return to the ice on Friday when they travel to Rockford to face the IceHogs at 7 p.m.
