The Rampage completed the weekend sweep of Hamilton with a 5-2 win on Sunday.

After kicking off their first three-in-three of the season with a loss on Friday, the San Antonio Rampage would use their offense to complete the sweep of the Hamilton Bulldogs and clinch a winning road trip.

The Rampage scored two goals in the span of 49 seconds as they defeated the Bulldogs (2-2-2-0, 6 points) in front of an announced crowd of 2,299 fans at FirstOntario Centre on Sunday afternoon.

San Antonio got on the scoreboard first late in the first period when Connor Brickley sent a shot over the glove of Hamilton goaltender Joey McDonald at the 17:06 mark to give the Rampage a 1-0 lead. Mark Mancari and Brett Olsen assisted on Brickley’s second goal of the year.

Hamilton tied the game in the second period when Christian Thomas sent a shot that bounced off the pads of Rampage netminder Dan Ellis and into the net just over six minutes into the middle period.

The Rampage would take control of the game quickly with goals from Rocco Grimaldi and Bobby Butler 49 seconds apart to put San Antonio up 3-1 midway through the second period. Just before the end of the period, Garrett Wilson put the Rampage up by three goals when he sent a shot past McDonald to give San Antonio a commanding 4-1 lead.

Hamilton would not go down without a fight as Gabriel Dumont beat Ellis just 4:07 into the third period to cut San Antonio’s lead to 4-2. Drayson Bowman and T.J. Hensick assisted on Dumont’s second goal of the season. The Bulldogs pulled McDonald for an extra attacker late in the period, but Wilson’s empty-net goal would seal the 5-2 win for the Rampage.

Ellis stopped 28 of the 30 shots he faced, while McDonald 22 of 26 shots. San Antonio went 0-for-3 on the power play, while the Bulldogs could not take advantage of their five chances on the man advantage.

The Rampage are now 5-2-0-0 (10 points) on the season and will return to the ice on Wednesday when they travel to Adirondack to face the Flames at 6 p.m. inside the Glens Falls Civic Center.
