
The San Antonio Rampage closed out the 2015 preseason with a 5-4 overtime loss to the Texas Stars inside the Cedar Park Center on Sunday afternoon.
Texas took an early lead when Stephen Johns beat San Antonio netminder Calvin Pickard just 3:21 into the game to put the Stars up 1-0. Colin Smith answered back when he put home a rebound off a Cody Corbett shot attempt to tie the game at one goal apiece.
San Antonio took their first lead just over three minutes later when Mason Geertsen shot the puck past Texas goaltender John Muse to go ahead 2-1. The Stars evened the score once again with a Brendan Ranford power play goal at the 16:31 mark.
Chris Bigras gave the Rampage the lead once again with a power play tally past Muse as the silver and black took a 3-2 lead into the second period.
The Stars tied the game again in the second period as Devin Shore made it three all, but the Rampage went ahead on a Brett Perlini goal as San Antonio took a 4-3 lead into the final period of play.
Texas sent the game into overtime with a Justin Dowling goal in the final minute of regulation. Julius Honka tipped in a shot past Pickard with 1.9 seconds remaining in the extra period to give the Stars the 5-4 win.
The Rampage finish the preseason with a 1-0-0-1 record and will return to the ice next Saturday when they open the 2015-16 season against the Stars at 7 p.m. inside the Cedar Park Center.
