Highlights:
The San Antonio Rampage are in Cleveland for the first time this season. For all the players in Silver and Black, it is a place they know well. However, their first time in the visiting locker room and on Friday night, their first time experiencing a loss as the opposition.
Lake Erie scored the final three goals of the game as they defeated the Rampage 4-3 in overtime to kick off a two-game weekend series.
A penalty filled first period saw the Monsters get on the scoreboard first when Daniel Zaar sent a one-timer past San Antonio goaltender Roman Will for the early lead. The Rampage answered back just 30 seconds later when Andrew Agozzino beat Anton Forsberg from the near post to knot the game up at a goal apiece. Reid Petryk gave the Rampage a 2-1 lead at intermission with a power play goal.
The Rampage extended their lead in the middle frame when Michael Schumacher tallied this eighth goal of the season at 17:43 to give San Antonio the 3-1 advantage. Lake Erie cut the San Antonio lead to one when Oliver Bjorkstrand let go a shot from the point to make it a one goal game after 40 minutes.
Michael Chaput would score the next two goals for the Monsters, including the game-winner in overtime to give Lake Erie the 4-3 come from behind win.
San Antonio finished 2-for-7 on the power play, while Lake Erie was 1-for-8.
The Rampage are now 22-23-8-0 on the season and will return to the ice tomorrow night when the Rampage take on Lake Erie at 6 p.m.
