Highlights:
After a trade deadline that saw Rampage killer Brendan Ranford join the Silver and Black and a return home after a month away, the San Antonio Rampage would still not be able to break their month long losing streak.
Ranford scored his first goal in a Rampage sweater, but it was not enough as the Silver and Black fell 4-2 to the Grand Rapids Griffins in front of 10,481 fans at the AT&T Center on Friday night.
Grand Rapids would light the lamp twice in the opening period with the first coming off Robbie Russo’s stick just over nine minutes into the game and Matt Lorito made it 2-0 in favor of the visitors just before the first intermission.
San Antonio rallied knot the game at two with back-to-back goals of their own. Rocco Grimaldi notched his team-leading 22nd goal of the season to bring the Silver and Black within one at 5:40. Ranford would take the feed from Grimaldi and knot the score at 2-2 going into the final period of play.
The final period belonged to Grand Rapids as former Rampage winger Ben Street put the Griffins up for good at the 15:10 mark and Matthew Ford capped off the scoring with an empty net goal for a 4-2 Grand Rapids win.
“We need to play that type of hockey the rest of the season,” Rampage coach Eric Veilleux said after the game.
