AT&T Center – The San Antonio Rampage (11-6-6-0) score twice in the final period to knot the game, but would fall 3-2 to the Charlotte Checkers in front of 3,116 fans at the AT&T Center on Wednesday evening.

“It wasn’t a very good first two periods,” Rampage Head Coach Dean Chynoweth said. “(We) Played 19 minutes and 56 seconds of a 60 minute game and put ourselves in position to get a point.”

Charlotte scored two goals in less than a minute to take a two goal advantage into the dressing room. Brock McGinn beat Calvin Pickard at the 12:57 mark of the opening frame and David Wolhberg added another goal less than a minute later.

Neither team would score in the second period as Charlotte owned the Rampage in shots 11-3, but San Antonio came out firing in the third.

Mikko Rantanen got loose on a breakaway and slid the puck past Charlotte goalie Drew MacIntyre to make it 2-1 with a short-handed tally at 3:17 of the final frame. Rantanen scored his second of the evening at 14:46 with a wrist shot that found the back of the net.

Charlotte shut the door on any hopes the Rampage had when Derek Ryan scored with 7.4 seconds remaining in regulation to hand the Silver and Black another home loss.

The Rampage are right back in action tomorrow evening against the Stockton Heat with the face-off at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center.
