Highlights:

AT&T Center – The San Antonio Rampage came into Sunday’s game winners of three straight. However, being on home ice has been a challenge for the Silver and Black as of late. San Antonio had lost six straight inside the friendly confines and that trend continued on a wet and chilly afternoon.

The Rampage rallied from a three-goal deficit, but could not complete their comeback in a 3-2 loss to the Texas Stars in front of 7,256 fans at the AT&T Center on the 11th annual Teddy Bear Toss Night.

Texas got on the scoreboard at the 7:05 mark when Brett Ritchie beat San Antonio goaltender Spencer Martin for his sixth goal of the season. Julius Honka extended the lead to two goals for the visitors with a one-timer on the power play at 17:02 as the Stars took their 2-0 lead into the second period.

Former Rampage captain Greg Rallo burned his old team when he made it a three-goal lead for the Stars at 4:36 of the middle frame. Esa Lindell’s slap shot was saved by Martin, but Rallo tipped it past the goaltender’s glove.

Dennis Everburg sent thousands of teddy bears flying when he put the Rampage on the board with a power play goal of their own to cut Texas’ lead to 3-1 after 40 minutes of hockey.

San Antonio got their second goal quickly in the third period when Joey Hishon beat Texas net minder Maxime Legace just 25 seconds into the frame. Despite a late push from the Rampage, the Stars held on for the 3-2 win.

“I like how we played,” Rampage Head Coach Dean Chenoweth said. “We had some chances compared to last night when they drastically out-chanced us. I like how we played tonight rather than last night, but a different result.”

San Antonio outshot Texas 36-35 for the game, including 8-6 in the third period. Martin made 32 saves on 35 Texas shots, while Lagace stopped 34 of 36 shots for the victory. Texas finished 2-for-3 on the power play, while the Silver and Black were 1-for-4 with the man advantage.

The Rampage are now 14-11-6-0 (34 points) on the season and will return to the ice on Tuesday when they travel to Austin to complete their three-game series with the Stars at 7 p.m. inside the Cedar Park Center.
