Rampage blanked by Stars to close out preseason

CEDAR PARK, TX – The San Antonio Rampage ended the preseason with a 4-0 loss to the Texas Stars at the H-E-B Center on Saturday evening.

Take the result with a grain of salt as San Antonio sat their regulars and took a look at some of those who are on the cusp of either making the team or being sent down to the minor league ECHL.

Texas opened the scoring at the 7:50 mark of the first period as Denis Gurianov found a loose puck in front of the San Antonio net, making it 1-0 Stars at the end of the opening 20 minutes.

The Stars extended their lead to two goals in the middle frame when Cole Ully put home a rebound at the 9:26 mark of the second period.

Texas continued to light the lamp in the final stanza as Justin Dowling scored at 3:42 and Brent Regner’s tally at 13:19 completed the scoring and a 4-0 win for the Stars.

San Antonio finishes the preseason with a 1-1-0-0 record.

Up next: The Rampage will return to the ice next Saturday at 7 p.m. when they open the 2017-18 regular season against the Ontario Reign at the AT&T Center.
