AT&T Center – The San Antonio Rampage earned their first home win of the 2016-17 season by defeating the Charlotte Checkers 3-1 at the AT&T Center on Friday evening.

Charlotte got on the scoreboard first when Phil Di Giuseppe put the puck between the pads of Rampage netminder Spencer Martin just 2:44 into the opening period. The Checkers would carry the 1-0 lead into the locker room for intermission.

The Rampage opened the scoring in the middle frame as Gabriel Bourque banged home the puck just 37 seconds into the period, tying things up 1-1. The goal would be the fastest goal from the start of the period and stand going into the third.

San Antonio scored the game winner at the 16:04 mark of the period with Sam Henley’s goal. Rocco Grimaldi sealed the 3-1 win with an empty net goal just before the period ended.

Up next: The Rampage are now 7-9-0-0 on the season and will return to the ice tomorrow night when they face the Charlotte Checkers in a rematch.
