The University of the Incarnate Word Cardinals (0-2) women’s basketball team will begin the home portion of their schedule when they welcome the Texas State Bobcats (1-0) to the McDermott Center this evening.
Last time out: Despite putting up a good fight, UIW fell 61-48 to the UT-Arlington Mavericks. The Cardinals were outscored 20-12 in the fourth quarter and fell behind 12 points, never revering. The Cardinals were led by Quicy Baker’s nine points in the loss.
Meanwhile, Texas State is coming off a 87-70 road victory over Texas Tech. Taeler Deer scored a career-best 44 points, earning her Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week honors.
Sophomore standout: Sophomore guard Imani Robinson is UIW’s scoring leader with 10 points and four rebounds per game.
Series history: Tonight will be the fourth meeting all-time between the two schools with Texas State claiming all three victories.
The Bobcats and Cardinals will tip things off at 6 p.m. from the McDermott Center.
