Preview: Stars return home to face Sparks

The San Antonio Stars return home as they look to break a two-game losing streak when they welcome the Los Angeles Sparks to the Freeman Coliseum tonight at 7 p.m.

Los Angeles (2-8) come into the game winners of two of their last three games. The Sparks suffered a heartbreaking 94-91 loss to the Phoenix Mercury on Saturday. Nneka Ogwumike finished with 27 points in the loss.

San Antonio (2-8) is coming off an 86-81 loss to Los Angeles last Thursday. The Stars led by 10 points two different times in the loss as rookie Dearica Hamby had a season-high 19 points in the loss and Sophia Young-Malcolm added 18.

The Stars traded for point guard Samantha Logic on July 5 and it is likely she will back up Danielle Robinson. San Antonio will be without Kayla McBride, Jia Perkins and Alex Montgomery who will miss the game with injuries. Center Jayne Appel is probable.

San Antonio is 0-1 against Los Angeles this season and finished 1-3 last season.

The Stars and Sparks will tip things off at 7 p.m. and Stephen Anderson will have a full recap. Follow @andersonstevem and @sastarshoops for live updates from Freeman Coliseum.
