The San Antonio Stars know they have not played their best basketball the past two games. They will have to correct their mistakes if want to take down Candace Parker and the Los Angeles Sparks.

San Antonio (7-20) fell 78-61 to the league-leading Minnesota Lynx on Friday. Jia Perkins finished with 16 points and Kayla McBride added 13 points. The silver and black have lost eight of their last nine games coming into Sunday’s contest.

Los Angeles (9-17) defeated the Phoenix Mercury 78-68 on Friday night, pushing them 2 1/2 games ahead of San Antonio and the Seattle Storm for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Parker had 26 points and 10 rebounds in the victory.

San Antonio is 31-45 against Los Angeles all-time, including 21-20 at home. Los Angeles won at San Antonio 80-78 on August 2, Parker had 17 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and three blocks in her third game this season while Jantel Lavender scored a team-leading 20 points.

The Stars and Sparks will tip things off at 3:30 p.m. from Freeman Coliseum and Stephen Anderson will have a recap. Follow @sastarshoops and @andersonstevem for live updates from the arena.
