Preview: Stars face Sparks for first time in 2015


The San Antonio Stars will look grab their first road win of the season when they face the winless Los Angeles Sparks tonight at 9:30 p.m.

San Antonio (2-7) is coming off an 85-78 loss to the Phoenix Mercury on Tuesday night. Kayla McBride and Sophia Young-Malcolm each had 18 points in the loss as the Stars fell to 0-5 away from the Lone Star state.

Los Angeles (0-7) is off to their worst start in franchise history. Their most recent loss was a 79-70 defeat at New York on Tuesday. Kristi Toliver put up a career-best 30 points in the loss as the Sparks will try to avoid an eight game losing streak.

The Sparks are without Alana Beard, Erin Phillips, Farhiya Abdi and Andrea Hoover. Candace Parker is also out and resting until after the All-Star break.

Last season, San Antonio went 1-3 against Los Angeles.
