Preview: Scorpions host Austin in U.S. Open Cup

The San Antonio Scorpions will take a break from NASL play to host their in-state rival Austin Aztex in the third round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup tonight at Toyota Field.

San Antonio lost their only match to Austin in the preseason, a 4-1 loss. Tonight the red and black will look to rebound from the loss in a do-or-die game.

The winner of tonight’s match will advance to the next round and face the MLS’ Houston Dynamo at BBVA Compass Stadium. Last season, San Antonio came away with a win over NTX Rayados, but fell to F.C. Dallas in the fourth round.

The Scorpions and Aztex will kick things off at Toyota Field at 7:30 p.m. Stephen Anderson will have live coverage from the stadium, so follow @andersonstevem and @RedBlack_90 on Twitter.
