A new era of San Antonio Rampage hockey begins this evening when the puck drops on the 14th season of hockey in the Alamo City. The good guys will take on their in-state rival Texas Stars inside the Cedar Park Center.
The Rampage will officially begin a five-year affiliation with the Colorado Avalanche. Previously the silver and black were affiliated with the Florida Panthers twice and the then-Phoenix Coyotes.
It will be the first time the Rampage have opened on the road since 2006. San Antonio is 4-7-2 in road openers all-time and are 8-5-0-0 in season openers.
San Antonio is 28-32-8-2 all-time against the Dallas Stars affiliate. Cedar Park Center has been kind to the Rampage as of late as they own a 10-16-8-1 record in the Austin suburbs. The Silver and Black split their two preseason meetings with Texas, winning 4-3 and losing in overtime 5-4 last weekend.
The Rampage and Stars will drop the puck tonight at 7 p.m. inside the Cedar Park Center and Stephen Anderson will have a recap. Follow @ImSteveAnderson and @rampagecentral for live updates.
