Poor third period sees Rampage fall in Rockford

ROCKFORD – The San Antonio Rampage’s poor third period led to a 3-1 defeat to the Rockford IceHogs (25-18-3-3) at the BMO Harris Bank Center on Wednesday evening.

After a mostly scoreless first period, Rockford lit the lamp with just over a minute remaining in the opening frame. Matthew Highmore redirected a shot past the Rampage defense and took a 1-0 lead into the second period.

San Antonio tied the game up when Felix Girard found his way past the Rockford defense and beat goaltender Collin Delia at the 8:05 mark of the middle stanza.

Rockford sealed the win with two straight power play goals in the final frame. Highmore gave the IceHogs the lead for good with his second goal of the game and Adam Clending finalized the scoring with a slap shot to make it 3-1.
