LULING, TX – Luling Eagles junior defensive back Miguel Ordonez is many things, but boastful is not one of those things.
After Ordonez left his stamp on last night’s game, a dominating 36-18 win over San Antonio Cole, he gave the praise to his teammates.
“I couldnt have done it without my team. They are always out there supporting me,” Ordonez said. “They do their job, I do my job and good things happen.”
Ordonez most certainly did his job, finishing with four total touchdowns and three interceptions as he had an impact on offense, defense and special teams.
It was Ordonez who got things started for the Eagles, with Wyatt Bullock finding him for a 27-yard touchdown pass to get onto the scoreboard first.
Luling’s defense limited Cole in the first half, and Bullock went deep and connected with Jacquai Gray for a 48-yard touchdown pass, followed by a two point conversion for the only score of the second quarter.
On Cole’s first possession of the second half, Ordonez picked off Austin Barr, but Luling’s offensive drive stalled as they were forced to punt.
Cole also went three and out, and on four and nine, Ordonez broke through to the backfield and blocked the punt. He then scooped up the loose ball and took it 39 yards for the Eagle touchdown.
But, Cole would answer right back, with Ya’Monie Crawford breaking free for a 19-yard touchdown run. Cole would score once more, as Crawford had his biggest run of the game, picking up 45-yards for the score.
