It was deja vu for the San Antonio Stars. It may be a new year, but offensive woes plagued the silver and black once again in their preseason opener.

Jia Perkins scored nine points, but it was not enough as the Stars fell 81-51 to the Tulsa Shock in front of 2,937 fans inside the BOK Center on Friday night in the preseason opener for both squads.

Rookie Dearica Hamby came off the bench to post eight points and six rebounds in her first pro game. Sydney Colson added seven points and Danielle Robinson chipped in seven for San Antonio, who shot just 28 percent for the game.

Skylar Diggins led the way for Tulsa with 15 points. Rookie Amanda Zahui B added 10 points off the bench in her debut as Karima Christmas also chipped in ten for the Shock, who never trailed in the game.

After trailing 27-13 after the first quarter, San Antonio used a 17-11 second quarter to cut the Tulsa lead to 38-30 at halftime. However, that is far as the Stars would get.

Tulsa shot 43 percent for the game (28-of-64), while the Stars were 17-of-60 from the field (28.3 percent). The silver and black were without Kayla McBride, who is still recovering from an offseason injury.

The Stars are now 0-1 in preseason play and will return to the court on Thursday morning when they welcome the Shock to Freeman Coliseum for a rematch at 10:30 a.m.
