The San Antonio Stars underwent a winter of change and after a week of training camp is was time to open the preseason. Featured was the battle of the two former Notre Dame stars: Skylar Diggins vs. Kayla McBride.

On Friday afternoon, Diggins won the first round.

Diggins scored a game-high 25 points as she led the Tulsa Shock to an easy 82-59 win over the San Antonio Stars in front of 3,500 fans inside the BOK Center on Friday.

Roneeka Hodges added 18 points and Courtney Paris had 10 points and 14 rebounds for the Shock, who never trailed and led by as much as 26 points.

San Antonio had no answer for Diggins, who was aggressive early as she slashed her way past the Stars defense and got to the basket at will. She finished 8-of-14 from the field and dished out eight assists.

The Stars had no players in double figures. Davellyn White and Jia Perkins both led San Antonio with nine points. Sophia Young-Malcolm finished with six points and Becky Hammon added five, as both players returned to the court after suffering season-ending knee injuries.

McBride struggled in her first WNBA game, finishing with just three points on 1-of-7 shooting.

San Antonio shot 19-for-61 (31.1 percent) and trailed 18-9 after the first quarter.

The Stars are now 0-1 in preseason play and will return home for a rematch with the Shock on Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the AT&T Center.
