San Antonio FC has signed former Atlanta Silverback midfielder Michael Reed for the upcoming 2016 season, the team announced on Wednesday afternoon.
“Michael has great endurance and an extremely high work rate in midfield,” said SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell. “He will complement the midfielders on the squad really well, and we anticipate him having a good season for us.”
Reed comes to the Alamo City after spending the 2015 season with the NASL’s Atlanta Silverbacks, where he scored a goal and appeared in 29 matches. Prior to that, he spent time with the Minnesota United Loons and captured the 2014 Spring Championship title.
“I am truly honored to be able to join this exciting new club,” said Reed. “This is an amazing opportunity with an incredible organization behind it and I can’t wait to step on the field and represent the club and the city of San Antonio with pride.”
San Antonio FC will open their first season in the Alamo City on the road April 3 against the Seattle Sounders 2 before returning home for their home opener on April 9 against the Swope Park Rangers at Toyota Field.
