Midfielder Michael Reed will return to San Antonio FC for the 2017 season, the team announced on Tuesday morning.

Reed appeared in 16 games for SAFC, scoring three goals and an assist. He suffered an injury towards the end of the season, keeping him out the final 11 games.

“Michael returning to SAFC in 2017 is very positive for the club,” said SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell. “He is influential both on the field and in the locker room because of his ability, knowledge of the game and all of his experiences playing around the country. We fully expect Michael to continue to have a good influence within this team in 2017.”

The 29-year-old was a significant part of SAFC’s lineup last season, using his veteran experience to rally the younger players.

“I am honored to be back in San Antonio,” said Reed. “I think the coaching staff and the front office have been nothing but top class here. I have great relationships with them. For 2017, the goal is the same as it is with the staff – to win. I feel appreciated here, I’m honored to play for this club and I’ll give everything I have for the team and for the fans.”

San Antonio FC takes the field for their second season in San Antonio in 2017.
