San Antonio FC (0-1-1) will look to get their first win of 2019 USL Championship season when they take on the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC (1-1-0) tonight in their first road match of the season.
Last time out
SAFC is coming off a 1-3 loss to Portland Timbers 2 last Saturday night at Toyota Field. Jack Barmby scored the lone goal for San Antonio in the loss, his first in an SAFC kit. The tally came after the midfielder drew a penalty in the first half.
Colorado was shutout last weekend, falling 0-1 to Sacramento Republic FC. The Switchbacks opened the season with a 4-1 win over LA Galaxy II two weeks ago.
New backline = New Growing Pains
Through two matches, SAFC has conceded six goals. In last week’s loss to Portland, San Antonio looked confused and had several scenes of miscommunication in the backline, resulting in one easy goal for Portland.
While it is still early, the backline will need to find its footing and what a better way than on this two-game road trip.
All-Time Series
SAFC is 2-2-2 all-time against Colorado since 2016. San Antonio faced the Switchbacks in the U.S. Open Cup last season and won in a shootout. SAFC has never won in franchise history when playing in Wagner Field.
Prediction
San Antonio FC – 1
Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC – 2
