Match #2 preview: San Antonio FC hosts LA Galaxy II for home opener

San Antonio FC (1-0-0) will look to stay unbeaten in the young 2017 USL season when they open the home portion of their schedule against the LA Galaxy II (1-0-0) at Toyota Field this evening.

Last time out: San Antonio FC earned a 1-0 win over Rio Grande Valley FC Toros last Sunday in their 2017 season opener. Billy Forbes goal in the 15th minute would be the difference as SAFC tightened up defensively to get the clean sheet.

Keeping it clean: Including the preseason, SAFC has recorded four clean sheets in 2017. San Antonio will need a near perfect defensive performance on Saturday night to keep that streak intact against a high powered offense in LA.

Fan support: A sellout crowd is expected at Toyota Field for the team’s home opener. Last season, a record crowd of 8,466 fans saw SAFC draw 1-1 with the Swope Park Rangers.

Against LA: San Antonio FC will be looking for their first win against LA Galaxy II in franchise history after going 0-1-1 in two games in 2016. Los Dos started off the 2017 season with a 2-0 win over Vancouver last weekend.

San Antonio FC and LA Galaxy II will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. at Toyota Field. Fans can catch the action on the USL YouTube Channel. Follow Red Black 90 for live updates.

Match Prediction: San Antonio FC’s defense will be put to the test for the second straight weekend. With the offensive firepower of Billy Forbes and Rafa Castillo, it should be enough to bring home (literally) three points. Score: SAFC 2, LA 1
