San Antonio FC will look to capture its first win of the 2019 USL Championship season when they host Portland Timbers 2 (0-0-1) at Toyota Field on Saturday night.
SAFC opened the regular season last Saturday against Phoenix Rising FC (0-0-1) and would play to a 3-3 draw despite holding the lead three different times in 90-plus minutes. Ever Guzman and Billy Forbes notched goals in the win as San Antonio picked up a point to begin a new season.
“Tonight was very positive from our guys,” SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell said after the match. “As a group, our players should take a lot of positives from tonight’s performance, and as we continue to improve I think we’re going to see some good soccer from these players.”
Portland opened the season with a 1-1 draw with Tulsa Roughnecks FC last weekend. Defender Modou Jadama scored the only goal for T2 in the match.
