Mason Geertsen named Rampage 2018 IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year

San Antonio Rampage defenseman Mason Geertsen has been named 2018 IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year winner for the 2017-18 season, the team announced on Thursday.

Geertsen was named the winner for his contributions to the San Antonio community. He joined Operation Comfort and the San Antonio Rampage Sled Hockey team for a practice by ditching his skates for a sled.

He met with Breast Cancer survivors support group at Metropolitan Methodist Hospital prior to the team’s Pink in the Rink Game in February. He was also one of the many members of the Rampage who took part in the team’s Face-Off Against Kids Cancer events.


Geertsen is now one of 30 finalists for the 2018 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award.
