It’s been ten days since the UTSA men’s basketball team last played a game, but when the Roadrunners took the court Friday afternoon, they didn’t show any signs of rust as they began conference play.
Taking a 48-42 lead into the locker room at the half, UTSA has been all over the Rice Owls in Houston, led by Keaton Wallace. Wallace has had his best half of the season, and at 17 points is just two points shy of his game-high on the season (19 twice). Keaton has been hot from deep, connecting on five three-point shots, as well as pulling down five rebounds.

The Rice Owls have played a close game, even more so than the halftime score shows. With just six minutes left in the half, Rice held a 35-30 lead on a 8-0 run. Both teams have shot the ball well, and currently have made over half of their shots. Leading the scoring attack for Rice is Travis Evee, who has 13 points, nearly doubling anyone else on the team. The home-team Owls have left some points on the board from the charity stripe, connecting on just five of nine.
The story for the Roadrunners in the second half will be whether Jhivvan Jackson gets more involved. The team’s leading scorer on the season, Jackson has just two points in the half, which didn’t come until five minutes left. Jhivvan also has just two of the team’s nine assists at the break.
