Nick Evans and Juan Lamadrid have been named assistant coaches for San Antonio FC, the team announced on Friday afternoon.

Evans comes to SAFC after spending time with the NASL’s San Antonio Scorpions from 2014-2015. He was part of Alen Marcina’s staff that saw the Red and Black earn a 2014 NASL Fall Championship and the 2014 NASL Championship.

“We are really pleased to have Nick Evans join the staff,” said SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell. “He has a massive reputation around the country as a good young coach both technically and tactically. Having observed him over the last couple of the weeks, he certainly has shown those skills. I’m really looking forward to working with him.”

Lamadrid was also on the Scorpions staff from 2011-2015. His background in San Antonio soccer saw him work with MLS veteran Josh Saunders and David Bingham. He serve as the team’s goalkeeper coach.

“I am very happy, excited and humbled for being chosen by the organization to be a part of this ambitious project,” said Lamadrid. “This will shape what we know about soccer in San Antonio. I am very committed to put all of my experiences and passion to make this a very successful project. I will always be committed to excellence with the club.”

San Antonio FC will open their first season in the Alamo City on the road April 3 against the Seattle Sounders 2 before returning home for their home opener on April 9 against the Swope Park Rangers at Toyota Field.
