On the same day that Chase Napoleon de-committed from Texas State, another defensive back pledged his allegiance to the Bobcats. Jordan Eastling, a 2-star cornerback out Southwest DeKalb high school in Decatur, Georgia, has committed to the Bobcats and is now the 19th member of Texas State’s 2016 class. http://www.texasredzonereport.com/2016/01/2016-texas-state-recruiting-class/

“The new coaching staff coming in, ready to change the program,” said Eastling. “ That was the biggest thing for me. (Withers) is a great guy. I was just looking at his resume and he’s probably an even better coach. This new coaching staff is energetic and they just love the game. They are ready to change the program and I want to be a part of that.”

After visiting San Marcos last weekend, one of ten visitors, (http://www.texasredzonereport.com/2016/01/10-recruits-visit-texas-state-this-weekend/) he committed to D1-AA Presbyterian College (South Carolina) on Monday. But he continued to consider Texas State and think about his visit all week, leading him to flip his commitment from Presbyterian to Texas State on Friday, “One of the most beautiful campuses I’ve been to,” said Eastling about Texas State. “I just kept thinking about it all week, it’s an awesome place.”

At 5’9”, 180-lbs, Eastling ran a 4.48 40 time at a camp at the University of Iowa last summer and recorded a 39-inch vertical at the Nike camp. He played many roles on his high school team, on both sides of the ball, “I’m mainly a corner but I played some safety, even got an interception at safety this year,” said Eastling. “I moved around a lot in the secondary. Just do what I can to help. I played a lot of offense too actually, runningback and slot. I prefer defense but I’ll play anything.”

Eastling’s commitment couldn’t have come at a better time for Texas State. What was once a DB-rich 2016 class for the Bobcats saw two of their committed safeties, CJ Pickrom and Chase Napoleon, flip their commitments, Pickrom to Bowling Green and Napoleon to Tulane.

Now the Bobcats have five DB’s for their 2016 class with Quinn Tiggs, Anthony Taylor, JaShon Waddy and Eastling at corner and Kumonde Hines at safety. Unless they pick up another safety, expect one of those four corners to switch positions to safety.
