After dropping their first two games of the season, the San Antonio Stars will return home to face the Tulsa Shock in search of their first win of 2015 this afternoon at the Freeman Coliseum.
Tulsa (2-1) is above .500 since the franchise moved from Detroit to Oklahoma. The Shock are coming off a 68-45 blowout win over the Seattle Storm on Tuesday as Tulsa’s defense held the Storm to 23.8 percent shooting. However, the Shock lost leading scorer Odyssey Sims to a injured left knee and is listed as day-to-day. Sims is averaging 17.3 points and 4.7 assists per game.
The Stars (0-2) are off to their worst start since 2005, where the team finished 7-27 in Dan Hughes’ first season as head coach. San Antonio is coming off a 72-69 loss to the Atlanta Dream on Thursday night. Kayla McBride finished the 29 points, one shy of her career high. The second year guard had a chance to tie the game, but her three-point attempt was off as time expired.
Rookie Dearica Hamby finished with 17 points and eight rebounds in her second pro game.
