With the WNBA season set to tip-off on Friday, it seems the injury bug is starting to bite earlier than usual. It’s first victim is the new-look San Antonio Stars.

The Stars announced on Thursday that guard Becky Hammon will not travel to Atlanta for the game against the Dream on Friday after suffering an injury to her left ankle during practice on Wednesday. She will be reevaluated on Saturday before the team’s home opener.

The Stars will open the 2014 season tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m. in Atlanta against the Dream before returning home to host the Tulsa Shock on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center.
