The San Antonio Rampage knew Friday’s effort would need to be improved if they wanted a win this weekend. And that’s what they got in the final game of their three game weekend.
Rocco Grimaldi’s overtime goal lifted the Rampage to a 3-2 overtime win over the Rockford IceHogs at the AT&T Center on Sunday night.
Rockford got on the scoreboard first in the opening frame when Gustav Forsling scored his first AHL goal, putting the visitors up by a goal after 20 minutes.
San Antonio responded with two goals in the second period to take the lead. Jim O’Brien and Garry Nunn scored minutes apart, making it 2-1. The IceHogs tied things up just before intermission thanks to a Sam Carrick goal.
After a scoreless third period, Grimaldi’s goal with 15 seconds remaining in the overtime frame would give the Rampage their second win of the weekend.
Up next: The Rampage are now 18-20-4-0 on the season and will return to the ice on Wednesday when they face the IceHogs at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center.
