The San Antonio Stars will try to make it a clean sweep of their quick two-game road trip when they face the Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles.

San Antonio comes in fresh off a 78-74 win over the Phoenix Mercury on Friday night. Danielle Robinson finished with a team-high 14 points eight rebounds, nine assists and three steals. Jia Perkins did her part by getting back-to-back steals and scoring 13.

The Sparks come into today’s game with a whole seven days off, owning a 1-1 record. In their home opening loss to Phoenix, Los Angeles was without Nneka Ogwumike and Candace Wiggins, who both missed the game with injuries.

In the 2013 season, the Sparks and Stars played each other four times, with Los Angeles winning three of the four matchups. The biggest loss of the series was on June 15 when the Sparks won by 36 points, 84-48. The Stars’ only win was the first meeting of the season, despite 27 points and 20 rebounds for Candace Parker.

Los Angeles averaged 83.8 points per game during the four matchups in 2013 and shot 51 percent, while holding San Antonio to 66.0 points per game on 36 percent shooting.

The Stars will have Becky Hammon and Sophia Young-Malcolm back in the lineup after suffering season-ending knee injuries. The team also drafted top three guard/forward Kayla McBride out of Notre Dame.

Los Angeles owns a record of 36-27 all-time against San Antonio during the regular season.

The Stars and Sparks are set to tip things off this afternoon at 2:30 p.m. central time at Staples Center. Check back later this evening for a full game recap from Stephen Anderson.
