After winning the 2013 WNBA championship last fall, the Minnesota Lynx are picking up right where they left off.
The defending champions haven’t lost since mid-September of 2013 and are riding a 14-game winning streak into Friday’s contest with the San Antonio Stars.
The Lynx bring a perfect 5-0 record into the game and have won nine straight home games against San Antonio. Last season, Minnesota swept their four game series against the Stars by an average of 16.5 points. Their last loss to the Silver & Black at Target Center was on July 22, 2010.
The Stars enter the contest with a record of 3-2, with all three wins by four points or fewer, with the latest being a 82-79 win over Tulsa on Wednesday.
Kayla McBride had the best game of her young career as she finished with 30 points, including the game winner with less than a minute left. The rookie averaged 8.5 points and shot just 29.4 percent in her first four games before Wednesday night.
San Antonio will need to step up their defense if they want any chance of beating Minnesota in the next two games. Opponents are shooting 49.7 percent from the field against San Antonio and Minnesota shot 53.7 percent in the final three meetings last season.
The Stars and Lynx are set to tipoff at 7 p.m. central at Target Center. Check back later tonight for Stephen Anderson’s post-game report.
