The UIW Cardinals will look to grab their first road win of the 2019 season when they open a two-game trip in Houston against the Houston Baptist Huskies on Saturday night.

Last time out

UIW earned a 31-24 win over Abilene Christian last Saturday, despite a subpar performance from quarterback Jon Copeland, who completed 18 of 35 passes for 170 yards and an interception. He did not have a touchdown in a game, the first time that has happened all season.

“There’s probably five throws I can name right now where he wasn’t pressured,” UIW head coach Eric Morris said. “He threw high. We had a perfect play in the red zone but he short-hopped it. When he’s out of the pocket, he’s making some bad decisions. He’s got to be more accurate, that’s what makes this offense go.”

Scouting the Huskies

Houston Baptist is coming off a massive 68-31 win over Texas Southern on Sept. 28. Quarterback Bailey Zapp threw for seven touchdowns in the victory. Running back Dreshawn Minnieweather leads the team in rushing yards with 438 yards in five games.
