If you’ve been wondering why freshman defensive tackle Ramon Readus’ profile on the Texas State Bobcats website has been leading to a 404 error page, that question was answered today coach Everett Withers.
According to several reports from Bobcats practice, including one from former Bobcats Insider editor and current Austin American Statesman beat writer Keff Ciardello, Withers said Readus was removed from the team after breaking core values.

Back in June, Withers also dismissed three wide receivers from the team due to breaking core values.
“It is unfortunate that at this time I have made the decision as the Head Football Coach at Texas State University to dismiss Demun Mercer, Justin Gamble and Brice Gunter from our football team for breaking our team core values and for failure to meet expectations in other areas,” Withers said in the email. “It is always unfortunate to have young people not meet the standards you set for a team with a new culture. It is our mission at Texas State football to compete for championships with young people who want success in life for the next 40-50 years.”
Readus, a three-star defensive end out of McKinney Boyd, was expected to make an impact in his freshman campaign especially with the move to a 3-4 defense, but the team has some depth with senior starter Dallas McClarty, redshirt freshman Josh Uluocha and freshman John Lilly.
Bobcats Insider will be out at Bobcats practice on Friday and at media day Sunday, so look for more coverage over the next few days.
