San Antonio Stars coach Dan Hughes is getting ready for one final tour around the WNBA. The 61-year-old coach is stepping down at the end of the 2016 season after 16 years in the league.
Hughes begins his 11th and final season in San Antonio on Saturday and he is ready for a challenge as he gets ready to depart. This season, he is rebuilding around All-Star shooting guard Kayla McBride and rookie point guard Moriah Jefferson.
At Wednesday’s media day, I caught up with Coach Hughes to discuss his plans for his final season and what he is looking for from his team. He discussed why he traded Jia Perkins and rebuilding around a young core.
