San Antonio FC forward Cesar Elizondo will return to San Antonio FC for the 2017 USL season, the team announced on November 3.
“We are pleased to have Cesar return to San Antonio FC,” said SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell. “He came in midseason last year and gave us a lot of new energy, and we are looking for him to transfer that to a complete season together next year. We fully expect a quality player like Cesar to do so, and we look forward to starting preseason in February.”
Elizondo appeared in nine matches for SAFC in 2016, scoring two goals and recorded one assist. The Costa Rican also spent time with the debunked San Antonio Scorpions of the NASL, leading the club to the 2014 Championship.
“I am proud to be able to continue with an organization as important as San Antonio FC,” said Elizondo. “I am very glad and motivated to give my all so we can accomplish great things with this great team and its wonderful fans. Our fans are like another member of the team – they are always with us in the good times, and they are also always supporting us in the not so good times. I can’t wait to get the group together and begin training with my teammates in 2017.”
San Antonio FC will return for its second season in San Antonio in 2017.
