Texas State cruised to a victory tonight over Texas Southern 36-20, to improve to 10-0 all-time in the matchup.
Quarterback Willie Jones III threw and ran for a total of 342 yards and a touchdown, while James Sherman went 5/6 on field goals and 3/3 on extra points to post 18 of the team’s 36 points.
Overall the Bobcats defense looked good, didn’t give up a lot of mid-range and short stuff but had some cracks form deep in coverage that allowed for a few big plays for the Tigers.
The offense was more exciting than we have seen in a couple years. The passing game was more open and quick, and now only needs a few extra seconds of blocking to really shine.
After one week at home, I dare say this is a much better team than we have seen in years at Texas State. We’ll see if that continues to be the story.
