UTSA Leads 28-13 at Halftime in Conference USA Championship

The 11-1 UTSA Roadrunners lead the WKU Hilltoppers 28-13 at the half of their first Conference USA appearance.

WKU came into the Alamodome with the number 1 passing offense in college football. QB Bailey Zappe led college football with 4,968 yards and 52 touchdowns. the Hilltoppers started the game off with a 60 yard touchdown in the first minute of play.


UTSA Runs

Frank Harris added his own touchdown with a 24 yard run just a few minutes later. Then after a WKU field goal, Sincere McCormick punched in a 2 yard run to take a 14-10 lead.

The Hilltoppers managed another field goal only the have Brenden Brady add a 6 yard touchdown run to push the lead to 21-13.

WKU attempted a third straight field goal from 53 yards out but missed.  On the next play for scrimmage McCormick broke open a 65 yard touchdown run to set the halftime lead at 28-13.

Sincere-ly Amazing

McCormick finished the first half with 145 yards and 2 touchdowns putting him at fifth all time in Conference USA Championship game rushing history with a half to play.

Frank Solid

After some shaky outings in past weeks, Frank Harris has settled into a great first half completing 8-12 for 84 yards and rushing for 68 yards and a touchdown.

UTSA Defensive about the Dome

The UTSA defense has held the Hilltoppers out of the end zone on all but one possession while giving up 289 yards.  UTSA seems content to allow the WKU offense to move the ball but not allow touchdowns forcing the Hilltoppers to try for 4 field goal attempts.

UTSA carries a 15 point lead and will receive the ball first in the second half.
