Spurs Sports and Entertainment has announced the sale of the San Antonio Rampage American Hockey League franchise membership. Pending league approval, the team will finish the 2019-20 season in San Antonio before relocating to Nevada for the 2020-21 season.

“We are extremely grateful to our staff, our fans and our partners who have supported the Rampage for the last 18 years,” said SS&E CEO RC Buford in a statement. “While this was a difficult decision to make, we believe this move is best for the long-term success of Spurs Sports & Entertainment.”

The news comes following the sale of the WNBA’s San Antonio Stars to Las Vegas in the summer of 2017. The city has now lost three teams in the past four years with the AAF’s San Antonio Commanders leaving when the Alliance of American Football folded in 2019.

The Rampage first came to San Antonio in 2002 and have been in the Alamo City for the past 18 years. The team made the playoffs just four times during that span and won their lone playoff series in 2008.
