The transfer of ownership, as well as the relocation of the San Antonio Rampage AHL franchise to the Vegas Golden Knights, is now official. League President and Chief Executive Officer David Andrews announced on Friday afternoon.

The announcement will mark the end of hockey in San Antonio after 18 years.

“We are extremely grateful to our staff, our fans and our partners who have supported the Rampage for the last 18 years,” Spurs Sports & Entertainment CEO RC Buford said in a statement. “While this was a difficult decision to make, we believe this move is best for the long-term success of Spurs Sports & Entertainment.”

The Rampage will move to Henderson, Nevada and play their games at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.

The team will play their final game in San Antonio on April 11.
