SAFC Pro Academy named Coaching Staff of the Year by U.S. Soccer

SAN ANTONIO – The SAFC Pro Academy coaching staff was named the U.S. Soccer Development Academy (DA) Central Conference Boys Coaching Staff of the Year, U.S. Soccer announced on Monday.

“I am truly thrilled and extremely thankful for the U.S. Soccer Development Academy’s recognition of our SAFC Pro Academy staff this season,” said SAFC Pro Academy Director Nick Evans. “It is a pleasure to share our development process with exceptional people and professionals. We are very appreciative of internal support from our organization along with Spurs Sports & Entertainment’s commitment to the youth in San Antonio.”

The SAFC Pro Academy is overseen by SAFC Head Coach and Technical Director Darren Powell, and Evans. The Academy has seen the growth and rise of several players to play with the SAFC first team including goalkeeper Joey Batrouni, defender Carson Price, midfielders Angel Bacho, Ethan Bryant, Rocky Perez, Jose Gallegos, Leo Torres and forward Abraham Lincon.

Stephen Michael 26, is a journalist, social media coordinator, host, and entertainment reporter. Michael graduated in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts and earned a Master's Degree in Digital Media in 2020 from the University of the Incarnate Word. He has worked covering the San Antonio Rampage, Stars, and San Antonio Futbol Club. He was the host of the Project Spurs Roundtable on NBC affiliate News 4 San Antonio from 2015-17.
