San Antonio FC has signed goalkeeper Diego Restrepo for the upcoming 2017 season, the team announced today.
Restrepo spent the 2016 season with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the NASL. He played over 900 minutes and recording 23 saves with a 1.36 goals against average while with the club.
“Diego has shown great character throughout the preseason and has integrated himself well with Matt [Cardone] and Lee [Johnston] as a goalkeeping team,” said SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell in a team press release. “He has a wealth of experience in professional soccer and has a very positive attitude. We’re excited to have him join us in 2017.”
The signing of Restrepo brings the SAFC roster to 24 players.
San Antonio FC will return to the pitch this weekend to host Tulsa Roughnecks FC at 1 p.m. inside Toyota Field. The club will open the 2017 season on Sunday March 26 at RGV Toros FC before returning home to Toyota Field to host LA Galaxy II at 7:30 p.m. on April 1.
