Levi Boyd is a 6-5, 245-pound, two-star tight end from El Cajon, California. On December 16, 2015, he signed his National Letter of Intent(NOI) to attend and play football at Texas State.
For the last two years Boyd has been attending junior college at Grossmont College, located in his hometown. During his two years at the JUCO level, Boyd totaled 25 catches, 356 receiving yards and one touchdown.
His stats aren’t all that impressive, but he has proven that he can contribute in other ways. He is a physical player and he is not afraid to lower his shoulder and create contact on plays. Both is pass and run blocking are solid, which is something that is key for every tight end to bring to the table.
When you take into consideration the numbers that Ryan Carden(25 receptions, 243 yards, 0 touchdowns) and Lawrence White(15 receptions, 169 yards, 3 touchdowns) put up last season, Boyd could come in and contribute those same type of statistics and help the Bobcats not miss a beat. Last season Boyd put up 17 receptions, 260 yards and 0 touchdowns. I know the level of competition is different, but the way you play the game doesn’t change and I think Boyd will make a smooth transition to D-1 from the JUCO level.
