San Antonio FC saw their U.S. Open Cup dreams come to an end with a 0-4 defeat to the Houston Dynamo inside BBVA Compass Stadium on Wednesday night.
Things were kept even just before halftime, that is when Houston took the lead for good. Mauro Manotas received the ball in the box and beat goalkeeper Josh Ford in the 39th minute to make it a 1-0 game. In stoppage time, David Rocha added another to make it a two goal lead for the home squad at halftime.
The Dynamo added two more goals in the second to seal the deal. Raul Rodriguez and midfielder Leonel Miranda each picked up a marker to seal the 4-0 win, eliminating SAFC.
“Houston Dynamo just went through a coaching change, and when that happens you expect a very competitive, strong team put together,” said SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell. “Hopefully the guys can learn from tonight, and we’ll get better come the weekend.”
