San Antonio FC forward Jason Johnson has been named to the USL Team of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Johnson tallied two goals in the opening ten minutes of SAFC’s inaugural match on Saturday against Seattle Sounders 2 FC in their 3-0 win.
“Getting two goals early on was a really good thing for the team knowing that we are a good defensive squad,” Johnson said after Sunday’s match. “It was huge especially away from home and the first game in franchise history. I think that is a brilliant way to start off a season.”
San Antonio FC is currently 1-0-0 on the season and will return to the pitch on Saturday night when they welcome the Swope Park Rangers to Toyota Field at 7:30 p.m.
